Evgenia Makarova — Contemporary Abstract Artist

Evgenia Makarova (lives and works in Aylesbury, UK) approaches painting as a space of instability, where intuitive, atmospheric fields are disrupted by gestures that introduce structure, pressure, and resistance.
Working with acrylic and oil, she builds surfaces through layered, fluid processes in which color operates as movement rather than fixed form. These soft, diffused fields are interrupted by lines, marks, and shifts that resist integration, creating a tension between immersion and interference.
Rather than resolving the image, these interventions destabilize it. The work holds together opposing forces — control and release, order and disruption — allowing the composition to remain open, unsettled, and in flux.
Makarova has exhibited internationally across the UK, Europe, and the United States. Her work is held in private collections in Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Russia, and the United States.
